March - Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month
Mar 22nd 2021Share
Colon cancer is the third most common cancer in the U.S. and the second leading cause of cancer death – but when caught early, it is treatable.
Many patients are choosing to delay or skip needed screening appointments to avoid potential exposure to COVID. Up to 100,000 more people may die as a result of skipped screening exams for breast and colorectal cancer. 1
As a health care practitioner, it’s important to remind your patients that they should keep up with cancer screenings even in the midst of the pandemic. The Colorectal Cancer Alliances’ getscreened.org site has a great summary of information to share – such as when and why to get screened, and the different types of screening tests that are available.
The Alliance also offers patient awareness, prevention, and support literature that you can order here.
